Straining, sweating, sparkling. HOT YOGA!

On the 11th of October 2024, Zack met a boy outside of a neon red HOT YOGA sign and his life changed forever. After one year of stretching his body in the heat of heartbreak, Zack releases this book, HOT YOGA.

After an explosive affair with an infamous Pākehā socialite, Zack is forced to reconsider his relationship with his Māori father, and by extension, his Māori identity. HOT YOGA chronicles seemingly innocuous moments, most real, some imagined, all true. Moments which catalyse change, demand personal evolution and inspire embodied decolonisation.

The moment you brush the grime from your teeth. The moment you catch a glimpse of yourself reflected, and stop to take a selfie. The moment you see your self in fire, burning in the eyes of someone. Someone not so unlike yourself. These moments... this moment now, is the only moment where decolonisation can be done. It begins in our bodies, stretched and sweating, posing in heat.

ABOUT SHIPPING:

HOT YOGA releases October 12th. Any shipped orders will be dispatched during October.

Pick Up option: Liaise with Zack to choose a time and place to collect. Pick up will be immediately available in Naarm/Melbourne. Available a few months later in Sydney, and may even be available in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland and Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington at a later date. The pick-up option is free as there is no deadline for when you obtain the publication, you will receive it when our paths cross. :)

Zack Lewin (he/him)

Zack Lewin is a takatāpui (Ngai te Rangi) multidisciplinary artist from Bidjigal land in Sydney. In 2023, Zack completed his Master of Theatre (Dramaturgy) at UniMelb with first-class honours and completed a hospitanz at the Schaubühne in Berlin. In early 2025, Zack co-founded the guerilla arts criticism platform ORANGUTAN with journalist Grace Ellen Macpherson.

As a SUPERMASSIVE artist with APHIDS for 2025, Zack is presently focused on the creation of his Mate Manawa series. These meta-autobiographical works exist in distinct mediums, deploying a self-reflexive exploration of queer sexuality and queer romance as methods of embodied decolonisation. HOT YOGA is Mate Manawa 1 of x.
